| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Robert |
| 4 | | "Robbie" Gorens Jr., who passed away on August 7, 2023; and |
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Robbie Gorens was born to Betty June Cox-Gorens |
| 6 | | and Robert Gorens Sr. on August 21, 1959; he grew up attending |
| 7 | | various churches, committing to his faith at an early age from |
| 8 | | his mother's example, and inherited a love of sports from his |
| 9 | | father and uncles; and |
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Robbie Gorens was a messenger for the Illinois |
| 11 | | House of Representatives for 38 years, retiring in 2020; he |
| 12 | | took pride in his work and always had a positive attitude; and |
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Robbie Gorens loved traveling to celebrate family |
| 14 | | reunions and special events with friends and family; he was |
| 15 | | deeply devoted to his daughter and grandchildren, and offering |
| 16 | | them his love and support was his greatest pleasure; and |
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Robbie Gorens was an enthusiastic fan of the |
| 18 | | Miami Dolphins; he played baseball as a child and softball and |
| 19 | | recreational basketball as an adult; he was best known among |
| 20 | | friends and family for hosting Play Station tournaments; a |
| 21 | | self-sufficient man, he took pride in his cooking, especially |
