| 1 | HOUSE RESOLUTION | ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives wish to commend Amir John Wahab, MD for | ||||||
| 4 | receiving the 2023 Rural Physician Lifetime of Service Award | ||||||
| 5 | from the Illinois Rural Health Association; and | ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, One of the biggest healthcare challenges across | ||||||
| 7 | our nation is the shortage of physicians who practice in rural | ||||||
| 8 | settings; and | ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, Dr. Wahab graduated from the Ross University | ||||||
| 10 | School of Medicine in 1992; and | ||||||
| 11 | WHEREAS, Dr. Wahab completed his residency at the Southern | ||||||
| 12 | Illinois School of Medicine in Springfield in 1997; and | ||||||
| 13 | WHEREAS, Dr. Wahab began his career in medicine at | ||||||
| 14 | Memorial Care in Lincoln in 1997; and | ||||||
| 15 | WHEREAS, Dr. Wahab has served in many leadership positions | ||||||
| 16 | within the medical arena, including as medical director of | ||||||
| 17 | Maple Ridge Nursing Home, co-director of the SIU Resident | ||||||
| 18 | Rural Track Program, chair of the Lincoln Memorial Hospital | ||||||
| 19 | Executive Committee, and vice-chair of Clinical Operations; | ||||||
| 20 | and | ||||||

| 1 | WHEREAS, Dr. Wahab is also an active member of his | ||||||
| 2 | community, serving on the Board of Directors for Lincoln | ||||||
| 3 | College and being involved in Lincoln's Christmas parade ever | ||||||
| 4 | year; and | ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Dr. Wahab cultivates future practitioners' | ||||||
| 6 | interest in rural medicine by serving as an adjunct professor | ||||||
| 7 | to medical students at both the University of Illinois and | ||||||
| 8 | Southern Illinois University, as well as hosting high school | ||||||
| 9 | students for job shadowing opportunities at his practice; and | ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, When not practicing medicine, Dr. Wahab is quite | ||||||
| 11 | the outdoorsman and enjoys hunting a variety of wild game | ||||||
| 12 | during hunting season; therefore, be it | ||||||
| 13 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
| 14 | HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 15 | we commend Amir John Wahab, MD for receiving the 2023 Rural | ||||||
| 16 | Physician Lifetime of Service Award from the Illinois Rural | ||||||
| 17 | Health Association; and be it further | ||||||
| 18 | RESOLVED, that we commend Dr. Wahab for his compassion and | ||||||
| 19 | dedication to his patients and for filling such a tremendous | ||||||
| 20 | void in rural medicine for over 25 years in central Illinois; | ||||||
| 21 | and be it further | ||||||

| 2 | presented to Dr. Wahab as a symbol of our esteem and respect. | ||||||
