2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Scott | ||||||
4 | Thomas Galto, who passed away on December 17, 2022; and | ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Scott Galto was born to Laura and James Galto in | ||||||
6 | Winfield on August 10, 1975; he graduated from Glenbard South | ||||||
7 | High School in 1993; he received his associate's degree in | ||||||
8 | criminal justice from the College of DuPage and completed his | ||||||
9 | law enforcement training at the Suburban Law Enforcement | ||||||
10 | Academy; he was sworn in as a police officer for the Forest | ||||||
11 | Preserve District of DuPage County in March 1999, where he | ||||||
12 | served for five years; and | ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, Scott Galto married Cynthia Olson from Sycamore | ||||||
14 | on October 20, 2001; together, they raised two beautiful | ||||||
15 | children, Arianna Galto and Kayden Galto; he was so passionate | ||||||
16 | about motorcycles and dirt bikes that he taught his children | ||||||
17 | how to ride them when they were two and four years of age: he | ||||||
18 | was high spirited and never gave up on his passion; he had | ||||||
19 | motorcycle accidents but still continued to ride them, and he | ||||||
20 | had fun the best way he could with his family; and | ||||||
21 | WHEREAS, Scott Galto loved and cared for his family; six | ||||||
22 | months after the birth of his first daughter, he stepped down |

1 | as a police officer and continued to work as a ranger assistant | ||||||
2 | at the Forest Preserve before his resignation in 2009; he | ||||||
3 | started working as a stationary fireman helper at Northern | ||||||
4 | Illinois University (NIU) in July of 2012; he was dedicated to | ||||||
5 | and passionate about his work and become an engineer in the | ||||||
6 | heating plant at NIU, where he received accolades for his | ||||||
7 | prompt response to situations, integrity, honesty, attention | ||||||
8 | to safety, and unmatched hard work; and | ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Scott Galto continued in his engineering career, | ||||||
10 | accepting a position as an engineer/boiler operator at the Fox | ||||||
11 | Developmental Center in Dwight on September 16, 2022; an | ||||||
12 | unfortunate incident took place on December 16, 2022, which | ||||||
13 | claimed his life 30 hours later; in his last minutes, he saved | ||||||
14 | many lives by notifying people of the danger, even in his | ||||||
15 | terrible state; he was selfless, caring, and loving until the | ||||||
16 | point of death; and | ||||||
17 | WHEREAS, Scott Galto will be remembered for the lives he | ||||||
18 | saved; his wife will always remember him as a loving and caring | ||||||
19 | husband, and his children will continue to remember him as | ||||||
20 | their superhero; and | ||||||
21 | WHEREAS, Scott Galto was preceded in death by his paternal | ||||||
22 | and maternal grandparents and his father-in-law and | ||||||
23 | mother-in-law; and |

1 | WHEREAS, Scott Galto is survived by his wife, Cynthia; his | ||||||
2 | daughter, Arianna Faith; his son, Kayden Scott; his parents, | ||||||
3 | James and Laura Galto; his brother, James Galto; his brother, | ||||||
4 | Daniel (Stephanie) Galto; his brother, Anthony Galto; his | ||||||
5 | brother-in-law, Daniel Olson; his brother-in-law, Eric Olson; | ||||||
6 | his sister-in-law, Sarah Garman; and many uncles, aunts, | ||||||
7 | nephews, nieces, cousins, friends, and his beloved dog, Rocky; | ||||||
8 | therefore, be it | ||||||
9 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
10 | HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
11 | mourn the passing of Scott Thomas Galto and extend our sincere | ||||||
12 | condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved | ||||||
13 | him; and be it further | ||||||
14 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
15 | presented to the family of Scott Galto as an expression of our | ||||||
16 | deepest sympathy. |
