HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to recognize the City of Praise Church in 
4Decatur on the occasion of its 20th anniversary; and
 
5    WHEREAS, The City of Praise Church was originally 
6established as the New Millennium Faith Ministry on October 
726, 2003; and
 
8    WHEREAS, In March 2014, the City of Praise Church 
9established GETS, a mentoring program for young girls aged 13 
10to 18, and founded Brother to Brother, a men's mentoring 
11program; and
 
12    WHEREAS, The City of Praise Church has become known for 
13its community service, which has included providing shelter 
14for an unhoused individual from December 2017 to 2018, feeding 
15160 people within the community in February 2021, conducting 
16financial and healthcare workshops in March 2014 and March 
172021, and paying for 12 children to receive swim lessons in 
18June 2021; and
 
19    WHEREAS, The City of Praise Church has a history of making 
20donations to its community, including supplying 60 bicycles to 
21local children in February 2018, giving away 100 gas cards in

1February 2021, donating 100 turkeys in November 2022, and 
2giving away 75 pairs of new shoes to children in August 2023; 
3and
 
4    WHEREAS, The City of Praise Church has renovated its own 
5property and has invested in additional property to provide 
6affordable homes for the community; and
 
7    WHEREAS, The City of Praise Church is currently breaking 
8ground on a new learning center; therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
10HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
11we recognize the City of Praise Church in Decatur on its 20th 
12anniversary, and we wish the church continued success in the 
13years to come; and be it further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
15presented to the City of Praise Church as a symbol of our 
16esteem and respect.
