HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Robert A. "Bobby" Joyce Sr. of Frankfort, formerly of Steger, who passed away on February 17, 2023; and

WHEREAS, Bobby Joyce was born on August 27, 1947; he graduated from Bloom Township High School and attended Southern Illinois University Carbondale; and

WHEREAS, Bobby Joyce had an exemplary record of leadership, integrity, and service; he was a union official for the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW), holding titles of vice president, president, and secretary/treasurer of System Council U-25; and

WHEREAS, Bobby Joyce was co-owner of Weichet Realtors - The Home Team in Tinley Park; he retired from Commonwealth Edison (ComEd) after 34 years in 2007; and

WHEREAS, Bobby Joyce formerly served as chairman of Crusade of Mercy, known today as the United Way, through which he led several marches; he was also a successful youth and high school baseball and basketball coach for over 55 years; and

WHEREAS, Bobby Joyce was a lifelong, avid Chicago Cubs fan; he loved his family, friends, athletes, and community; he was a man who never gave up, and he will be remembered for leading an extraordinary life without regret; and

WHEREAS, At the time of his passing, Bobby Joyce was survived by his wife of 43 years, Teresa; his children, Robert (Valerie) Joyce Jr., Amy (Steve) Herr, and Megan (Tony) Kuraja; eight grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Robert A. "Bobby" Joyce Sr. and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Bobby Joyce as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
