2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Henry | ||||||
4 | Bernard Geise of Quincy, formerly of Estero, Florida, who | ||||||
5 | passed away on December 1, 2023; and | ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Henry Geise was born to Bernard Henry and Violet | ||||||
7 | Marie (Wabel) Geise in Quincy on April 3, 1936; he attended St. | ||||||
8 | Boniface Grade School and graduated from Christian Brothers | ||||||
9 | High School in 1954; he graduated with a degree in accounting | ||||||
10 | from Quincy College in 1959 and with a Juris Doctor from the | ||||||
11 | University of Illinois in 1963; he served in the U.S. Army | ||||||
12 | Reserves and spent six months in active duty at Fort Leonard | ||||||
13 | Wood, Missouri, receiving an honorable discharge; he married | ||||||
14 | Jill (Groves) at Quincy College Chapel on August 6, 1960; and | ||||||
15 | WHEREAS, After his college graduation, Henry Geise worked | ||||||
16 | for Lybrand, Ross Brothers, and Montgomery; after graduating | ||||||
17 | from Law school, he moved back to Quincy and joined his | ||||||
18 | father-in-law's law practice, retiring from private practice | ||||||
19 | after nearly 60 years; he also taught business law classes in | ||||||
20 | the evenings at Quincy College in his earlier years; in | ||||||
21 | addition, he was the owner and president of the Maid Rite | ||||||
22 | Sandwich Shop and the former Maid Rite East Sandwich Shop; and |

1 | WHEREAS, Henry Geise was appointed as the Quincy City | ||||||
2 | Attorney, a position he held for many years; he also acted as | ||||||
3 | the emcee at the Beaux Arts Ball; and | ||||||
4 | WHEREAS, Henry Geise attended Our Lady of Light Catholic | ||||||
5 | Church in Fort Myers, Florida and the Church of St. Peter in | ||||||
6 | Quincy; and | ||||||
7 | WHEREAS, Henry Geise had a calm demeanor and a wonderful | ||||||
8 | sense of humor; he loved the outdoors, spending countless | ||||||
9 | hours working on projects and fishing at his cabin, golfing, | ||||||
10 | and playing cards; his family was everything to him, and he | ||||||
11 | spent much treasured time with them, especially during family | ||||||
12 | trips to Florida, Colorado, and the Lake of the Ozarks; and | ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, Henry Geise was preceded in death by his parents; | ||||||
14 | his brothers-in-law, Rich Hilgenbrink and Don Talken; and his | ||||||
15 | nephew, Mark Talken; and | ||||||
16 | WHEREAS, Henry Geise is survived by his wife; his | ||||||
17 | children, Michael Geise and Lisa (Brian) Knuffman; his | ||||||
18 | grandchildren, Taylor (fiance, Payton Welch) Knuffman and | ||||||
19 | Caiden (significant other, Payten Rice) Geise; his bonus | ||||||
20 | granddaughter, Destiny Aden; his sisters, Judy Talken, Linda | ||||||
21 | Hilgenbrink, and Debbie (Robert) Steeples; and his several | ||||||
22 | nieces and nephews along with their spouses and children; |

2 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
3 | HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
4 | we mourn the passing of Henry Bernard Geise and extend our | ||||||
5 | sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew | ||||||
6 | and loved him; and be it further | ||||||
7 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
8 | presented to the family of Henry Geise as an expression of our | ||||||
9 | deepest sympathy. |
