HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate the Greater Centralia Chamber of Commerce on the occasion of its 100th anniversary; and

WHEREAS, On May 9, 1924, the Greater Centralia Chamber of Commerce (the Chamber) was founded by a group of community members under the leadership of Reverend F.O. Fannon, who served as its first president, during a period of economic growth as a result of Centralia's successful railroad and coal mine industries; the organization was originally formed with the aim of promoting business, tourism, and commerce to benefit the community of Centralia; and

WHEREAS, Since its creation, the Chamber has carried out its mission as a recognized, leading organization for its members and the community through stimulating a healthy business climate by providing programs and services to strengthen the community and to directly benefit its members and enhance their respective business' success; and

WHEREAS, The Chamber has expanded beyond Centralia in the State of Illinois, encompassing the counties of Marion, Clinton, Jefferson, and Washington and including the cities of Centralia, Central City, Wamac, Carlyle, Dix, Greenville, Highland, Hoffman, Irvington, Mt. Vernon, Odin, Salem, Sandoval, and Walnut Hill, among others; and

WHEREAS, The Chamber consists of more than 300 members, including locally owned businesses, home-based businesses, corporate retail and industrial operations, hospitals, financial institutions, and manufacturers, and partners with local municipalities, schools, and civic organizations to achieve its purpose of serving its members and the community; and

WHEREAS, The Chamber, in collaboration with its partners, provides information and sponsors social and educational events for its members and the community; the organization works with each member to achieve their individual needs and goals of success, and it also actively supports regional growth and community development; and

WHEREAS, In addition to its purpose, the Chamber prides itself on building relationships and improving communication with and between its members, whilst resolving members' legislative and political issues with integrity and diplomacy in line with the best interests of the business climate of the community; and

WHEREAS, The Chamber's celebration of its 100-year anniversary serves as a testament to its immeasurable impact, support, and invaluable contributions to its members, community, and the State of Illinois; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the Greater Centralia Chamber of Commerce (the Chamber) on achieving its 100-year anniversary; and be it further

RESOLVED, That we commend the Chamber and its employees, members, and partners for their remarkable achievements and invaluable contributions to the State of Illinois over the years; and be it further

RESOLVED, That we extend our best wishes to the Chamber's employees, members, and partners; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the Greater Centralia Chamber of Commerce as an expression of our esteem and respect.
