| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Dallas |
| 4 | | Ingemunson, who passed away on November 4, 2023; and |
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Dallas Ingemunson was born to Clare and Dorothy |
| 6 | | Ingemunson in Sandwich on May 23, 1938; he studied locally and |
| 7 | | graduated from Newark High School; and |
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Dallas Ingemunson received a bachelor's degree in |
| 9 | | electrical engineering from the University of Illinois at |
| 10 | | Urbana-Champaign and a Juris Doctor from DePaul Law School in |
| 11 | | 1965; and |
| 12 | | WHEREAS, As a member of the Illinois Bar Association, |
| 13 | | Dallas Ingemunson began practicing as an Assistant State's |
| 14 | | Attorney of Kendall County; he was mentored by the elected |
| 15 | | chief of his office, Robert Ohse; and |
| 16 | | WHEREAS, After Robert Ohse died in office, Dallas |
| 17 | | Ingemunson was selected by the Kendall County Board to serve |
| 18 | | as State's Attorney of Kendall County; he was then elected by |
| 19 | | his neighbors to serve a full term and subsequently served six |
| 20 | | terms as the prosecutorial law officer of his fast-growing |
| 21 | | county; and |

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Dallas Ingemunson was chosen by his fellow |
| 2 | | Republicans to be the Republican County Chairperson of Kendall |
| 3 | | County; during his chairmanship, Kendall County was one of the |
| 4 | | most Republican counties in the State of Illinois; for |
| 5 | | example, in the 1984 United States Presidential Election, |
| 6 | | President Ronald Reagan carried Kendall County with 73.8% of |
| 7 | | the vote, the fourth-highest percentage among all the counties |
| 8 | | in Illinois in that year; and |
| 9 | | WHEREAS, As a leader of his political party, Dallas |
| 10 | | Ingemunson served as treasurer of the Republican Party of |
| 11 | | Illinois and as interim chairperson of the Illinois Republican |
| 12 | | Party; and |
| 13 | | WHEREAS, As a state's attorney, Dallas Ingemunson led the |
| 14 | | charge to create the Office of the Illinois State's Attorneys |
| 15 | | Appellate Prosecutor, the Springfield-based office that |
| 16 | | assists in prosecuting criminal cases when requested to do so |
| 17 | | and at the direction of a state's attorney, and was solely |
| 18 | | prosecuting criminal cases when duly appointed by a court |
| 19 | | having jurisdiction; and |
| 20 | | WHEREAS, The dedicated personnel of this office, which |
| 21 | | Dallas Ingemunson helped to create, have played a key role in |
| 22 | | the prosecutions of some of Illinois' worst criminal acts; and |

| 1 | | WHEREAS, As state's attorney and as county chairman of his |
| 2 | | party, Dallas Ingemunson was a friend to many and a mentor to a |
| 3 | | surprising number; former House Republican Leader Tom Cross, |
| 4 | | who also shares Kendall County heritage, is high among those |
| 5 | | who knew him as a close friend and guide; and |
| 6 | | WHEREAS, In 1996, Dallas Ingemunson moved from public |
| 7 | | service into the private practice of law, a vocation in which |
| 8 | | he continued his work, buttressed his standing as a Kendall |
| 9 | | County community leader, and added to his lengthening list of |
| 10 | | friends; and |
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Many Illinoisans of all political persuasions can |
| 12 | | remember Dallas Ingemunson telling stories about the quirks of |
| 13 | | Illinois life with many of the best stories only being told at |
| 14 | | fishing lakes and camps with some of these stories getting |
| 15 | | better each time they were told; and |
| 16 | | WHEREAS, While working hard as a student in law school, |
| 17 | | Dallas Ingemunson married his true love and partner, Dodie |
| 18 | | Ingemunson on October 5, 1963; they were together for more |
| 19 | | than 60 years, and by the end of their journey, they had three |
| 20 | | sons, Gregg, Kirk, and Boyd, two daughters-in-law, Kate and |
| 21 | | Kathy, and ten grandchildren, as well as countless friends and |
| 22 | | kinsfolk; therefore, be it |

| 1 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE |
| 2 | | HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 3 | | we mourn the passing of Dallas Ingemunson and extend our |
| 4 | | sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew |
| 5 | | and loved him; and be it further |
| 6 | | RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be presented to |
| 7 | | Dodie Ingemunson as our expression of sorrow at his loss and in |
| 8 | | remembrance of his service to the people of Kendall County and |
| 9 | | of Illinois. |
