HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to congratulate the publication FarmWeek 
4on the occasion of its 50th anniversary; and
 
5    WHEREAS, FarmWeek was founded as a weekly service of the 
6Illinois Farm Bureau at the bureau's home office in 
7Bloomington on June 10, 1974, with the publication 
8consequently being printed at P&P Press in Peoria each Friday 
9for circulation the following Monday; and
 
10    WHEREAS, FarmWeek was created as a weekly publication 
11designed to inform Illinois farmers and agricultural 
12enthusiasts alike of the current issues and policies facing 
13agriculture in Illinois and therefore to help readers make 
14well-informed decisions in regards to their respective farms; 
15and
 
16    WHEREAS, Covering commodity markets and weather reports, 
17FarmWeek has continued to provide accurate and up-to-date 
18information through an ever-changing information landscape by 
19offering print as well as online services along with RFD Radio 
20Network reports; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Agriculture has a special place in the Illinois

1economy, accounting for roughly $51.1 billion annually and 
2employing nearly 1 million workers while producing a wide 
3range of products from food for consumption to biofuels; 
4therefore, be it
 
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
6HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
7we declare June 10, 2024 as FarmWeek Appreciation Day in the 
8State of Illinois; and be it further
 
9    RESOLVED, That we congratulate FarmWeek on its 50th 
10anniversary, and we wish the publication continued success; 
11and be it further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
13presented to the staff of FarmWeek as an expression of our 
14esteem and respect.
