| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives wish to congratulate the Brown County Middle |
| 4 | | School eighth grade boys basketball team, the Hornets, on |
| 5 | | winning the 2023-2024 Illinois Elementary School Association |
| 6 | | Class 2A State Championship; and
|
| 7 | | WHEREAS, The Hornets claimed their championship by |
| 8 | | defeating Central A&M Middle School on February 15, 2024 by a |
| 9 | | score of 51 to 33 at Bishop McNamara High School in Kankakee; |
| 10 | | and
|
| 11 | | WHEREAS, The Hornets compiled a record of 29 wins and 1 |
| 12 | | loss during the course of their championship run; and
|
| 13 | | WHEREAS, The Hornets did not allow more than eight points |
| 14 | | in the first quarter in any of the state tournament games, |
| 15 | | outscoring their opponents 42 to 21; therefore, be it
|
| 16 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE |
| 17 | | HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 18 | | we congratulate the Brown County Middle School eighth grade |
| 19 | | boys basketball team, the Hornets, on winning the 2023-2024 |
| 20 | | Illinois Elementary School Association Class 2A State |
| 21 | | Championship, and we wish them many for successful seasons; |
