HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate Marco E. Jacome on the occasion of his retirement as CEO of Healthcare Alternative Systems, Inc. (H.A.S.); and

WHEREAS, Marco Jacome has had a 45-year career in the field of social services, working for the behavioral health care organization H.A.S. for the past 40 years, where he has served as CEO for the past 32 years; and

WHEREAS, As part of his involvement in the field of alcohol and substance abuse, Marco Jacome has advocated for more state and federal services for minority communities; he has served as a regional advisory board member for the Great Lakes Addiction Technology Transfer Center and as a board member of the Norwegian American Hospital Foundation; he previously served as board president of the Illinois Association of Behavioral Health (IABH), the Illinois Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse Professional Certification Association (IAODAPCA), and Advanced Behavioral Health (ABC), MCO; he also previously served as a board member of St. Elizabeth's Hospital and as board treasurer of the Northern Illinois Employee Assistance Professionals Association; and

WHEREAS, At the federal level, Marco Jacome is a member of the Hispanic Latino Caucus for the Target Capacity Expansion for the Center for Substance Abuse Treatment (CSAT), the Cultural Competency and Diversity Network, and the Prevention Partnership Organization, where he serves as an active board member; he previously served as a member of the CSAT National Advisory Council; and

WHEREAS, Marco Jacome is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) through the State of Illinois, a Certified Employee Assistance Professional (CEAP), and an Illinois Certified Supervisor Addictions Counselor (CSADC), with a bachelor's degree in psychology and sociology from North Park University and a graduate degree in family and community counseling from Northeastern University; he was selected to participate in a fellowship program at the School of Public Health at Boston University and a fellowship program at the John F. Kennedy School of Government and Business School at Harvard University; more recently, he was selected as a fellow to participate in a social entrepreneur program at Stanford University; and

WHEREAS, Marco Jacome has received a number of accolades over the course of his career, including being named as one of Hispanic Business magazine's 100 Influential, its yearly selection of Latinos who have made significant, national contributions in government, business, or academics, in 2010; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Marco E. Jacome on his retirement as CEO of Healthcare Alternative Systems, Inc. (H.A.S.), and we wish him success in his future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Marco Jacome as an expression of our esteem and respect.
