| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives wish to recognize the Little Bit Foundation |
| 4 | | and its many volunteers for their support of Annette Harris |
| 5 | | Officer Elementary School students; and |
| 6 | | WHEREAS, The Little Bit Foundation was established in St. |
| 7 | | Louis, Missouri in 2001 and is committed to breaking down |
| 8 | | barriers to learning for under-resourced students through |
| 9 | | partnerships and programs that serve the needs of the whole |
| 10 | | child; and |
| 11 | | WHEREAS, The Little Bit Foundation works to empower |
| 12 | | students to achieve their academic goals and dreams for the |
| 13 | | future while leaving an imprint of love and hope on young lives |
| 14 | | for whom a little bit means a lot; and |
| 15 | | WHEREAS, The Little Bit Foundation partners with schools |
| 16 | | across St. Louis, where 90 to 100% of students live at or below |
| 17 | | the federal poverty line; the programs address barriers |
| 18 | | children face, such as food insecurity, undiagnosed health |
| 19 | | conditions, lack of winter clothing, proper hygiene, |
| 20 | | insufficient reading material in the home, and more; and |
| 21 | | WHEREAS, The Little Bit Foundation recently began a |

| 1 | | partnership with the Annette Harris Officer Elementary School |
| 2 | | in East St. Louis, where it provided approximately 300 |
| 3 | | students with free coats and books, helping to nurture both |
| 4 | | their bodies and minds; and |
| 5 | | WHEREAS, The Little Bit Foundation also established a |
| 6 | | boutique on the second floor of the Annette Harris Officer |
| 7 | | Elementary School, where students can request various items, |
| 8 | | including coats, uniforms, toiletries, and more; and |
| 9 | | WHEREAS, The Little Bit Foundation, through initiatives |
| 10 | | such as its partnership with the Annette Harris Officer |
| 11 | | Elementary School and the provision of case managers for |
| 12 | | wellness and family support, seeks to create an environment |
| 13 | | where every child feels valued, supported, and empowered to |
| 14 | | succeed; therefore, be it |
| 15 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE |
| 16 | | HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 17 | | we recognize and thank the Little Bit Foundation and its |
| 18 | | volunteers for their tireless work to remove barriers to |
| 19 | | learning for disadvantaged students while building their |
| 20 | | confidence, dignity, and all other qualities that will lead to |
| 21 | | their success; and be it further |
| 22 | | RESOLVED, That we recognize the Little Bit Foundation's |
