HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to congratulate the Greater Belleville 
4Chamber of Commerce on the occasion of the 100th anniversary 
5of its founding; and
 
6    WHEREAS, The Greater Belleville Chamber of Commerce was 
7incorporated on October 4, 1924 with the purpose of advancing 
8the civic, industrial, commercial, and agricultural interests 
9of the City of Belleville and St. Clair County; and
 
10    WHEREAS, The Greater Belleville Chamber of Commerce had 
11several name changes over the years and were known at first as 
12the Belleville Chamber of Commerce, then as the Belleville 
13Area Chamber of Commerce, and, after a merger, as Belleville 
14Economic Progress Inc., before installing its current name in 
152001; and
 
16    WHEREAS, The Greater Belleville Chamber of Commerce 
17currently has more than 500 members; and
 
18    WHEREAS, The Greater Belleville Chamber of Commerce 
19supports and advances business and community interests, as 
20well as the quality of life in Belleville and surrounding 
21communities; therefore, be it

1    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
2HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
3we congratulate the Greater Belleville Chamber of Commerce on 
4its 100th anniversary, and we wish them many more successful 
5years; and be it further
 
6    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
7presented to the Greater Belleville Chamber of Commerce as a 
8symbol of our respect and esteem.
