HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House wish to 
3congratulate Barbara Tubekis on the occasion of her retirement 
4as executive director of The Volunteer Center in Winnetka; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Barbara Tubekis faithfully served as executive 
6director and acted as spokesperson for The Volunteer Center 
7since 1993; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Throughout her leadership, Barbara Tubekis 
9displayed the highest standards of personal and professional 
10ethics and dedication; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Barbara Tubekis managed and executed community 
12programs to engage residents and service groups of New Trier 
13Township and the northeast metropolitan area of Chicago in 
14service and ongoing volunteer activities; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Barbara Tubekis administered volunteer referral 
16and promotion for over 165 non-profit organizations located 
17throughout the north shore and metropolitan areas of Chicago; 
18and
 
19    WHEREAS, Barbara Tubekis referred over 30,000 volunteers 
20through The Volunteer Center, and she further championed

1volunteerism by shining a light on volunteers in order to 
2further motivate more people to pursue their own personal 
3social justice initiatives; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Barbara Tubekis delivered management and training 
5programs to the public, produced communications materials, and 
6ran fundraising and special collaborative events; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Barbara Tubekis also served as a commissioner of 
8the Serve Illinois Commission, the governor-appointed, 
9statewide commission for volunteerism and community service, 
10and as a former chair and member of The Volunteer Centers of 
11Illinois and Volunteer Connectors of Illinois; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Barbara Tubekis retired from her position as 
13executive director in August 2023; therefore, be it
 
14    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
15HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
16we congratulate Barbara Tubekis on her retirement as executive 
17director of The Volunteer Center in Winnetka, and we thank her 
18for her tireless work to keep our community engaged in 
19volunteerism; and be it further
 
20    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
21presented to Barbara Tubekis as a symbol of our esteem and
