| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives wish to congratulate Raul I. Raymundo on the |
| 4 | | occasion of being named a 2024 Lincoln Laureate of the Order of |
| 5 | | Lincoln; and |
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Established in 1964, the Order of Lincoln is the |
| 7 | | State's highest civilian honor for professional achievement |
| 8 | | and public service, honoring Illinois residents whose work |
| 9 | | uplifts every community in the State; and |
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Raul I. Raymundo, an immigrant born in Mexico and |
| 11 | | raised in the Pilsen neighborhood of Chicago, has long |
| 12 | | understood the challenges and strengths of working-class and |
| 13 | | immigrant families; through his financial acumen and |
| 14 | | leadership, he has been instrumental in revitalizing the |
| 15 | | Pilsen neighborhood through his work as CEO and co-founder of |
| 16 | | The Resurrection Project (TRP), a nonprofit organization that |
| 17 | | has aimed to build wealth in the neighborhood through |
| 18 | | connecting residents with low-interest loans and building |
| 19 | | affordable housing units since its inception in 1990; and |
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Raul Raymundo earned his Bachelor of Arts from |
| 21 | | Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota in 1988 before |
| 22 | | returning to the Pilsen neighborhood, where he co-founded the |

| 1 | | TRP with a seed capital of $30,000 from six Chicago-area |
| 2 | | parishes in 1990; and |
| 3 | | WHEREAS, Under Raul Raymundo's leadership, the TRP has |
| 4 | | leveraged its initial funds into more than $800 million in |
| 5 | | community investments, positively benefiting countless |
| 6 | | individuals throughout the western suburbs and the city's |
| 7 | | southwest side through the development of more than 1,000 |
| 8 | | units of affordable housing in addition to immigration legal |
| 9 | | clinics, early childhood centers, senior satellite centers, |
| 10 | | community resource centers, and a charter school serving |
| 11 | | thousands of families; through his guidance, the nonprofit has |
| 12 | | become one of the region's most creative and effective social |
| 13 | | impact organizations today; and |
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Raul Raymundo remains an active civic leader and |
| 15 | | mentor, co-founding several local and national organizations |
| 16 | | and serving as a trustee for his alma mater, Carleton College; |
| 17 | | he has given his time to several organizations and boards, |
| 18 | | often in leadership positions, including the American Business |
| 19 | | Immigration Coalition (ABIC), the Illinois Justice Project, |
| 20 | | Illinois Latino Agenda, the National Association of Latino |
| 21 | | Community Asset Builders (NALCAB), the St. Anthony Hospital |
| 22 | | Ministry Board, Start Early, and United Power for Action and |
| 23 | | Justice; he has also served on the advisory boards of several |
| 24 | | financial institutions, including BMO, CIBC, Fifth Third Bank, |

| 1 | | Huntington Bank, and local divisions of Self-Help Federal |
| 2 | | Credit Union; and |
| 3 | | WHEREAS, Raul Raymundo and his fellow 2024 Lincoln |
| 4 | | Laureates join more than 350 distinguished Illinois residents |
| 5 | | of the Order of Lincoln since its inception, and they will be |
| 6 | | honored at the 60th annual Convocation and Investiture at the |
| 7 | | Chicago History Museum on April 13, 2024; therefore, be it |
| 8 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE |
| 9 | | HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 10 | | we congratulate Raul I. Raymundo on being named a 2024 Lincoln |
| 11 | | Laureate of the Order of Lincoln, and we recognize his service |
| 12 | | and dedication to the residents of Illinois; and be it further |
| 13 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 14 | | presented to Raul Raymundo as an expression of our esteem and |
| 15 | | respect. |
