HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate Verdell (Brockmeier) Unverfehrt on the occasion of her 90th birthday; and

WHEREAS, Verdell Unverfehrt was born in Venedy on May 27, 1934; she attended grade school at Klasing and Ebenezer, both of which were one room schoolhouses; she graduated from Okawville High School in 1952, the first girl among her siblings to attend high school; and

WHEREAS, Verdell Unverfehrt worked at Old Exchange National Bank in Okawville after graduating high school until she married Alfred Unverfehrt in 1955, when she became a full-time farm wife; and

WHEREAS, Verdell Unverfehrt worked as a full partner with her husband in establishing their grain, dairy, and livestock farm, which is now Ven Oka Farms Inc.; and

WHEREAS, Verdell Unverfehrt had a total of four children, Jim, who now operates the family farm in Okawville, Dave, who lives in Florida, Karen, who lives in Nashville with her husband Dave, and Julie, who lives in Carlyle with her husband, Ken; and

WHEREAS, Verdell Unverfehrt still resides on the farm in a house that she and her husband built, where she can be found pulling weeds in her flower garden, sewing apparel and loose buttons for her family and friends, and cooking her famous dishes; and

WHEREAS, Verdell Unverfehrt particularly enjoys attending church, spending time with her children, nine grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren, and observing the bustling farm life from her kitchen window; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Verdell Unverfehrt on the occasion of her 90th birthday; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Verdell Unverfehrt as a token of our esteem and respect.
