HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to congratulate MainStreet Libertyville 
4for its 35 years of service and thank them for their hard work 
5on behalf of downtown Libertyville; and
 
6    WHEREAS, On April 25, 1989, MainStreet Libertyville was 
7founded as a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to 
8enhancing community identity and heritage, fostering a center 
9of activity, and ensuring economic stability in the heart of 
10Libertyville through concentrated efforts of education, 
11design, promotion, organization, and economic revitalization; 
12and
 
13    WHEREAS, MainStreet Libertyville has demonstrated 
14excellence in community revitalization efforts and received 
15the Great American Main Street Award in 1997 from Main Street 
16America; and
 
17    WHEREAS, MainStreet Libertyville has advocated for small 
18business owners and economic vitality in downtown Libertyville 
19and partnered with local stakeholders, community leaders, and 
20volunteers to help create and maintain a unique and vibrant 
21shopping, dining, and entertainment district in downtown 
22Libertyville; and

1    WHEREAS, MainStreet Libertyville holds more than 55 days 
2of community and retail events that bring thousands of people 
3to the heart of downtown Libertyville, including Let's Wine 
4About Winter, First Fridays, Girls' Nights Out, Car Fun on 21, 
5the Farmers Market, Lunch in the Park, Sidewalk Sales, 
6MainSweet Dessert Walk, Oktoberfest in Libertyville, Trick or 
7Treat on MainStreet, Small Business Saturday, and Dickens of a 
8Holiday; and
 
9    WHEREAS, MainStreet Libertyville brings thousands of 
10people from the community and tourists to enjoy the historic 
11charm and independent retailers, restaurants, and service 
12providers in downtown Libertyville; and
 
13    WHEREAS, MainStreet Libertyville is also a part of 
14Illinois Main Street and a national network of more than 1,200 
15Main Street Communities accredited and affiliated with Main 
16Street America, a subsidiary of the National Trust for 
17Historic Preservation; therefore, be it
 
18    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE 
19HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that 
20we congratulate MainStreet Libertyville for its 35 years of 
21service and thank them for their hard work on behalf of 
22downtown Libertyville; and be it further
