| 2 | | WHEREAS, COIII Shelly Hill has been nominated for the |
| 3 | | Lifesaver Award, a prestigious award given to members of the |
| 4 | | correctional officer community who have taken actions to save |
| 5 | | the life of another person; and
|
| 6 | | WHEREAS, On the night of November 1, 2023, at |
| 7 | | approximately 10:08 p.m., COIII Shelly Hill heard a Code 16 |
| 8 | | Medical Emergency that was called over the institutional radio |
| 9 | | system in Housing Unit #10 C-Wing of the Northeast |
| 10 | | Correctional Center in Bowling Green, Missouri; and
|
| 11 | | WHEREAS, COIII Shelly Hill and several staff members |
| 12 | | immediately leapt into action and discovered that offender |
| 13 | | Howard Chevelle was not breathing; and
|
| 14 | | WHEREAS, COIII Shelly Hill performed several rounds of CPR |
| 15 | | on the inmate, and he regained the ability to breathe |
| 16 | | approximately half an hour later; therefore, be it
|
| 17 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE |
| 18 | | HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 19 | | we commend COIII Shelly Hill for going above and beyond the |
| 20 | | call of duty to save the life of another person, reflecting |
| 21 | | great merit upon herself and the entire law enforcement |
