2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
3 | | Representatives wish to congratulate William Edward "Ed" |
4 | | Voltenburg on his retirement from the Findlay Fire Protection |
5 | | District; and |
6 | | WHEREAS, Ed Voltenburg was born to James and Joyce |
7 | | Voltenburg in Tuscola on March 29, 1966; he was raised in |
8 | | Arcola, graduating from Arcola High School in 1984; he married |
9 | | Joy Binion in Sullivan on August 26, 2000; and |
10 | | WHEREAS, Ed Voltenburg joined the Neoga Fire Department as |
11 | | a volunteer fireman on April 6, 1986; and |
12 | | WHEREAS, Ed Voltenburg proceeded to join the Cooks Mills |
13 | | Fire Department as a firefighter in 1993, where he also served |
14 | | on the Cooks Mills Fire Department Board and proved |
15 | | instrumental in acquiring grant funding for a new fire station |
16 | | with the help of State Representatives Julie Curry and Duane |
17 | | Noland; and |
18 | | WHEREAS, Ed Voltenburg left the Cooks Mills Fire |
19 | | Department to serve the Sullivan Fire Department in 2000; and |
20 | | WHEREAS, Ed Voltenburg later joined the Findlay Fire |

1 | | Protection District in August 2007, where he served in a |
2 | | number of leadership positions before ultimately being |
3 | | appointed fire chief in 2013; and |
4 | | WHEREAS, As a public servant, Ed Voltenburg has served as |
5 | | a certified firefighter and a licensed EMT-Basic, and he has |
6 | | excelled in fire investigations; and |
7 | | WHEREAS, Outside of his duties as a firefighter, Ed |
8 | | Voltenburg has worked as a driver for Gingerich, Inc. since |
9 | | September 2001; he also started his own business, Voltenburg |
10 | | Farms, in 2008, and he and his wife opened the short-term |
11 | | vacation rental property, Binion Lodge, located adjacent to |
12 | | Lake Shelbyville at Beaver Lake; and |
13 | | WHEREAS, Ed Voltenburg has also served his community as a |
14 | | precinct committeeman for Precinct 4 of Sullivan Township; and |
15 | | WHEREAS, Ed Voltenburg is the father of one son, Nick |
16 | | (Emily) Voltenburg; the grandfather of Pryor Voltenburg, with |
17 | | one grandchild on the way; the stepfather of Theresa Lutz, |
18 | | David Cookson, and Tamara Cookson; and a step-grandfather and |
19 | | step-great-grandfather, as well; therefore, be it |
20 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE |

1 | | HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
2 | | we congratulate William Edward "Ed" Voltenburg on his |
3 | | retirement from the Findlay Fire Protection District, thank |
4 | | him for his outstanding service to his community, and wish him |
5 | | success in his future endeavors; and be it further |
6 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
7 | | presented to Ed Voltenburg as an expression of our esteem and |
8 | | respect. |
