HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate the Westmont Chamber of Commerce on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of its founding; and

WHEREAS, The Westmont Chamber of Commerce was formally incorporated when small business owners and operators in Westmont came together on September 5, 1974; and

WHEREAS, The Westmont Chamber of Commerce provides platforms for networking and collaboration such as business after-hours events and ribbon-cutting ceremonies and facilitates connections among local businesses to foster partnerships, business referrals, and knowledge sharing in order to strengthen the local business community; and

WHEREAS, The Westmont Chamber of Commerce provides valuable support to businesses through workshops, training programs, and access to business development resources, helping them thrive and grow within the village; and

WHEREAS, The Westmont Chamber of Commerce has established community-wide stakeholder groups, including the Westmont Auto Mile, the Westmont Restaurant Committee, Women in Business, the Senior Resource Committee, and the Economic Development Partnership, to address specific needs and challenges faced by different sectors while working to ensure the success of the Westmont business community and the village as a whole; and

WHEREAS, The Westmont Chamber of Commerce promotes local businesses and events, encouraging residents to support the community's economy by shopping locally through initiatives such as the Westmont Restaurant Week and the Readers Choice Dining Awards Program that highlights the village's dining scene, attracting customers and boosting sales for local restaurants; and

WHEREAS, The Westmont Chamber of Commerce plays an active role in community engagement efforts, organizing several signature events, including the Westmont Winter Ball, the Trick or Treat Trail with casket races on Cass Avenue, the Westmont Community Awards Dinner, and Pets in the Park, to promote local businesses and also bring the community together, enhancing the village's cultural and social fabric and fostering a sense of unity and pride within the village; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the Westmont Chamber of Commerce on its 50th anniversary, and we wish them many more successful years; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the Westmont Chamber of Commerce as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
