HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Herman
4G. Bodewes of Springfield, who passed away on August 21, 2024;
5and
 
6    WHEREAS, Herman Bodewes, the son of Theodore and Meta
7(Rind) Bodewes, was born in Lemay, Missouri on July 25, 1937;
8he attended St. Libory Elementary School and graduated from
9Cathedral High School in Belleville in 1955; he married
10Carolyn Sue Brown in Farmersville on August 3, 1963; he earned
11his Juris Doctor from St. Louis University in 1964; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Herman Bodewes was a partner at the law firm of
13Giffin, Winning, Cohen & Bodewes for 58 years; he approached
14every case with the same unwavering dedication, regardless of
15the client's financial status or social standing or the nature
16of the case; throughout his prominent legal career, he
17received many awards from various organizations; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Herman Bodewes was an active, longtime member of
19Blessed Sacrament Parish; he was a fan of the Chicago Cubs and
20enjoyed gardening, political campaigning, and traveling; his
21greatest joy was spending time with his family on his farm; and

1    WHEREAS, Herman Bodewes was preceded in death by his
2parents and his brother, Bernard Bodewes; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Herman Bodewes is survived by his wife of 61
4years, Carolyn Bodewes; his daughters, Ann (Mike) Stephens,
5Christine Bodewes, and Karen (Kate Kent) Bodewes; his sons,
6Joe (Molly) Bodewes, Ted Bodewes, and Andrew (Nicole Livanos)
7Bodewes; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; his
8brother, Paul Bodewes; and many nieces and nephews; therefore,
9be it
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
11HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
12we mourn the passing of Herman G. Bodewes and extend our
13sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew
14and loved him; and be it further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of Herman Bodewes as an expression of
17our deepest sympathy.
