| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Surgene |
| 4 | | Covance Cabell, who passed away on September 24, 2024; and |
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Surgene Cabell, the son of Priscilla Arnold and |
| 6 | | Edward G. Cabell, was born on August 5, 1942; he was an |
| 7 | | all-state football player at Waukegan High School, and he |
| 8 | | continued his football legacy at Bradley University; he |
| 9 | | appeared on American Bandstand where he won with his dance |
| 10 | | partner, Ethel Suggs; and |
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Surgene Cabell played semi-professional football |
| 12 | | for the Lake County Rifles; and |
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Surgene Cabell was a member of Hope Fellowship |
| 14 | | Church in Ormond Beach, Florida, and his community and |
| 15 | | spiritual life were deeply intertwined with his daily |
| 16 | | activities; and |
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Surgene Cabell was passionate about coaching |
| 18 | | basketball, fishing, and contributing to the Boy Scouts of |
| 19 | | America, where he enjoyed mentoring young individuals; and |
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Surgene Cabell was known for his athleticism, |
