HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Surgene
4Covance Cabell, who passed away on September 24, 2024; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Surgene Cabell, the son of Priscilla Arnold and
6Edward G. Cabell, was born on August 5, 1942; he was an
7all-state football player at Waukegan High School, and he
8continued his football legacy at Bradley University; he
9appeared on American Bandstand where he won with his dance
10partner, Ethel Suggs; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Surgene Cabell played semi-professional football
12for the Lake County Rifles; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Surgene Cabell was a member of Hope Fellowship
14Church in Ormond Beach, Florida, and his community and
15spiritual life were deeply intertwined with his daily
16activities; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Surgene Cabell was passionate about coaching
18basketball, fishing, and contributing to the Boy Scouts of
19America, where he enjoyed mentoring young individuals; and
 
20    WHEREAS, Surgene Cabell was known for his athleticism,

1honesty, fairness, and welcoming nature; he was deeply caring
2and loving and often gave sage advice with a touch of humor;
3and
 
4    WHEREAS, Surgene Cabell was preceded in death by his
5parents; his stepfather, Louis Arnold; and his brother, Marvin
6Cabell; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Surgene Cabell is survived by his wife,
8Constance; his children, Anton, Priscilla, Andria, Steven,
9Surgene, Melody, and Lisa; his brother, Edward Cabell; his
10grandchildren; and his great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
12HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
13we mourn the passing of Surgene Covance Cabell and extend our
14sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew
15and loved him; and be it further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the family of Surgene Cabell as an expression of
18our deepest sympathy.
