| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives wish to congratulate Perri Small on the |
| 4 | | occasion of her retirement as a talk radio host at station WVON |
| 5 | | 1690; and |
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Perri Small, a resident of Roseland Heights, was |
| 7 | | raised in West Chesterfield and graduated from Elizabeth Seton |
| 8 | | High School in South Holland; she studied communications at |
| 9 | | Western Illinois University; and |
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Prior to joining the Black-owned radio station |
| 11 | | WVON 1690, Perri Small worked in the press office of former |
| 12 | | Chicago Mayor Harold Washington and for the Citizen Newspaper |
| 13 | | Group; and |
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Perri Small served as a talk radio host at WVON |
| 15 | | 1690 for 30 years; during her career, she became known for her |
| 16 | | humor, her authenticity, and her tell-it-like-it-is approach |
| 17 | | on issues facing the Black community, serving as a courageous |
| 18 | | voice for the voiceless while continually spearheading |
| 19 | | leadership, love, light, and liberty for all in the process; |
| 20 | | and |
| 21 | | WHEREAS, Perri Small has received a number of accolades, |
