| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of George | ||||||
| 4 | Thanos Demos, who passed away on November 21, 2024; and | ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, George Demos, the son of Vasiliki (Bouloukos) and | ||||||
| 6 | Thanos Demos, was born on May 12, 1948; he was a star | ||||||
| 7 | basketball player at Sullivan High School and played | ||||||
| 8 | collegiate basketball for the University of Illinois Chicago | ||||||
| 9 | and the University of Montana-Missoula; and | ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, George Demos played professional basketball in | ||||||
| 11 | Greece after college, and he also served as a collegiate | ||||||
| 12 | basketball referee for many years; and | ||||||
| 13 | WHEREAS, George Demos was a former board member of the | ||||||
| 14 | National Hellenic Invitational Basketball Tournament; and | ||||||
| 15 | WHEREAS, George Demos was named to several halls of fame, | ||||||
| 16 | including the Basketball Museum of Illinois, the Illinois | ||||||
| 17 | Basketball Coaches Association, the Chicago Public League | ||||||
| 18 | Basketball Coaches Association, the University of Illinois | ||||||
| 19 | Chicago, the University of Montana-Missoula, and the National | ||||||
| 20 | Hellenic Invitational Basketball Tournament; and | ||||||

| 1 | WHEREAS, George Demos will be remembered for his kind and | ||||||
| 2 | generous spirit; and | ||||||
| 3 | WHEREAS, George Demos was preceded in death by his | ||||||
| 4 | parents; his brother, Peter Demos; his mother-in-law, Loretta | ||||||
| 5 | Pruzaniec; and his brother-in-law, Drew Pruzaniec; and | ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, George Demos was the husband of Bonnie | ||||||
| 7 | (Pruzaniec) Demos; the father of Tom Demos and Nicole | ||||||
| 8 | (Lawrence) Trotter; the grandfather of Kennedy, Lawrence, and | ||||||
| 9 | Madison Trotter; the brother of Paul (Gina) Demos; the | ||||||
| 10 | brother-in-law of Jill (Dan) Szuszwalak; the uncle of | ||||||
| 11 | Christina (Josh) Pickett; the great-uncle of Emma Pickett and | ||||||
| 12 | Jonathan Pickett; and a friend to many; therefore, be it | ||||||
| 13 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
| 14 | HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 15 | we mourn the passing of George Thanos Demos and extend our | ||||||
| 16 | sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew | ||||||
| 17 | and loved him; and be it further | ||||||
| 18 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 19 | presented to the family of George Demos as an expression of our | ||||||
| 20 | deepest sympathy. | ||||||
