HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Andrea
4M. Coleman of Chicago, who passed away on November 23, 2024;
5and
 
6    WHEREAS, Andrea Coleman, the daughter of Andrew Sumerlin
7Sr. and Maude (Gibson) Sumerlin, was born in Chicago in 1939;
8she graduated from Marshall High School in Chicago; she
9acquired her home on 108th Street in the Chicago Roseland
10community in 1969; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Andrea Coleman began working for Illinois Bell in
121963, retiring in marketing in 1993; and
 
13    WHEREAS, Andrea Coleman was committed to her faith and
14ensuring her children had a Catholic-based education; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Andrea Coleman enjoyed cooking for every holiday,
16especially during Thanksgiving and Christmas, welcoming
17everyone in the neighborhood to come by for a warm meal; and
 
18    WHEREAS, Andrea Coleman was known as "Mama Coleman"
19throughout her community, and she prided herself on always
20being available for those in need; she will be remembered as a

1great listener, advisor, confidant, financier, coach, and
2motivator; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Andrea Coleman was preceded in death by her
4daughter, Veda, and her siblings, Andrew, Arlene, Terry, and
5Terrine; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Andrea Coleman is survived by her children,
7Angela Coleman and Village of Richton Park Trustee Brian A.
8Coleman; therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
10HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
11we mourn the passing of Andrea M. Coleman and extend our
12sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew
13and loved her; and be it further
 
14    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
15presented to the family of Andrea Coleman as an expression of
16our deepest sympathy.
