| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives wish to congratulate Gladys Naomi Haynes on |
| 4 | | the occasion of her 100th birthday on December 8, 2024; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Gladys Haynes was born in Chicago on December 8, |
| 6 | | 1924; she was raised by her grandparents in Chicago, where she |
| 7 | | attended John M. Smyth Elementary School and Lucy Flower |
| 8 | | Technical High School for Girls; and
|
| 9 | | WHEREAS, Gladys Haynes spent her professional years caring |
| 10 | | for patients at a nursing home in Chicago; and
|
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Gladys Haynes joined St. Sabina Church in the |
| 12 | | 1990s, where she has served as a minister of the Eucharist and |
| 13 | | a sergeant-at-arms with the Hospitality Ministry and the |
| 14 | | Ministry of Care; she also started her own ministry, ordering |
| 15 | | and providing church members with the Our Daily Bread |
| 16 | | publication quarterly; and
|
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Gladys Haynes enjoyed sewing and crocheting in |
| 18 | | her youth, and she now enjoys reading, watching TV, and |
| 19 | | talking to her friends on the phone; she loves sharing her |
| 20 | | life's many experiences and the changes she has witnessed in |
| 21 | | the world over the course of her life; therefore, be it
