| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives wish to honor our colleague, State |
| 4 | | Representative Cyril L. Nichols, on his esteemed service as a |
| 5 | | member of the Illinois General Assembly and to thank him for |
| 6 | | his dedication to the State and his community; and
|
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Rep. Nichols was born and raised in Chicago; he |
| 8 | | attended Wells High School in Chicago, Colby Community College |
| 9 | | in Kansas, and Columbia College in Chicago; and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Rep. Nichols worked for the Cabrini Green |
| 11 | | community-based organization Community Youth Creative Learning |
| 12 | | Experience (CYCLE), the Chicago Park District, the Chicago |
| 13 | | Youth Centers, the YMCA, the Cunningham Children's Home in |
| 14 | | Urbana, Benedictine University, the University of St. Francis, |
| 15 | | and the City Colleges of Chicago; and
|
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Rep. Nichols founded the Ashburn Family Youth |
| 17 | | Center; and
|
| 18 | | WHEREAS, In 2021, Rep. Nichols was chosen to represent the |
| 19 | | people of the 32nd House District in the Illinois General |
| 20 | | Assembly; and
|

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Rep. Nichols drew upon his passion for higher |
| 2 | | education by shepherding through legislation that expanded |
| 3 | | opportunities for contractors and subcontractors to employ |
| 4 | | pre-apprentices and apprentices in the Illinois Works Jobs |
| 5 | | Program; and
|
| 6 | | WHEREAS, Rep. Nichols championed legislation requiring |
| 7 | | insurance coverage for colonoscopy procedures, improving |
| 8 | | prisoner ID release, and focusing on food label |
| 9 | | standardization; and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Rep. Nichols has served with distinction as a |
| 11 | | member of the Agriculture & Conservation Committee, the |
| 12 | | Appropriations-Higher Education Committee, the Elementary & |
| 13 | | Secondary Education: Administration, Licensing & Charter |
| 14 | | Schools Committee, the Higher Education Committee, and the |
| 15 | | Police and Fire Committee; therefore, be it
|
| 16 | | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE |
| 17 | | HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that |
| 18 | | we congratulate Representative Cyril L. Nichols on his |
| 19 | | accomplishments, thank him for his service, and wish him all |
| 20 | | the best in his future endeavors; and be it further
