Amends the Township Code. In provisions regarding the ability of any group of registered voters to request an advisory question of public policy for consideration by the electors at the annual meeting, provides that the advisory question of public policy must be pertaining to the statutory duties of townships under the Annual Township Meeting Article of the Code.

2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
4 | | Section 5. The Township Code is amended by changing |
5 | | Section 30-205 as follows:
|
6 | | (60 ILCS 1/30-205)
|
7 | | Sec. 30-205. Advisory referenda. Any group of registered |
8 | | voters may request an advisory question of public policy |
9 | | pertaining to the statutory duties of townships under this |
10 | | Article for consideration by the electors at the annual |
11 | | meeting by giving written notice of the specific advisory |
12 | | question to the township clerk in the same manner as required |
13 | | for an agenda item under subsection (b) of Section 30-10. The |
14 | | agenda published by the township board shall include any such |
15 | | advisory question if the request is timely filed. By a vote of |
16 | | the majority of electors
present at a town meeting, the |
17 | | electors may authorize that an advisory question
of public |
18 | | policy pertaining to the statutory duties of townships under |
19 | | this Article , for which notice has been given as required by |
20 | | this Section, be placed on the ballot at the next regularly |
21 | | scheduled
election in the township. The township board shall |
22 | | certify the question to the
proper election officials, who |
