1 AMENDMENT TO SENATE BILL 2197

2 AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend Senate Bill 2197 on page 1,

3 line 5, by deleting "3-2.7-1,"; and

4 on page 1, by deleting lines 8 through 12; and

5 on page 2, by replacing lines 3 through 10 with the following:

6 ""County-operated juvenile detention center" means any

7 shelter care home or detention home as "shelter" and

8 "detention" are defined in Section 1.1 of the County Shelter

9 Care and Detention Home Act and any other facility that

10 detains youth in the juvenile justice system that is

11 specifically designated to detain or incarcerate youth.

12 "County-operated juvenile detention center" does not include

13 police or other temporary law enforcement holding locations.";

14 and

15 on page 4, by replacing lines 16 through 19 with the following:

1 "of the Independent Juvenile Ombudsman. County-operated

2 juvenile detention centers shall provide necessary

3 administrative services and space, upon request, inside the

4 facility to the Office of the Independent Juvenile Ombudsman

5 to meet confidentially with youth and otherwise in performance

6 of his or her duties under this Article."; and

7 on page 12, line 18, by inserting after "Code" the following:

8 "or any other files of youth in the custody of county-operated

9 juvenile detention centers, or both".
