| 1 | | AN ACT concerning education.
|
| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, |
| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
| 4 | | Section 5. The Interscholastic Athletic Organization Act |
| 5 | | is amended by adding Section 1.25 as follows:
|
| 6 | | (105 ILCS 25/1.25 new) |
| 7 | | Sec. 1.25. Spirit Rules Book. An association or other |
| 8 | | entity that has, as one of its purposes, promoting, |
| 9 | | sponsoring, regulating, or in any manner providing for |
| 10 | | interscholastic athletics or any form of athletic competition |
| 11 | | among schools and students within this State shall adopt the |
| 12 | | Spirit Rules Book published by the National Federation of |
| 13 | | State High School Associations or a similar document as the |
| 14 | | safety standards for student cheerleaders, spirit groups, and |
| 15 | | their coaches who participate in any school activity or |
| 16 | | extracurricular student activity sponsored or sanctioned by |
| 17 | | that association or other entity.

| 18 | | Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect January |
| 19 | | 1, 2025. |
