| 1 | | AN ACT concerning safety. |
| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, |
| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly: |
| 4 | | Section 5. The Solid Waste Planning and Recycling Act is |
| 5 | | amended by adding Section 10.2 as follows: |
| 6 | | (415 ILCS 15/10.2 new) |
| 7 | | Sec. 10.2. Event facilities. |
| 8 | | (a) On and after January 1, 2025, an owner or operator of |
| 9 | | an event facility that has a maximum legal capacity or |
| 10 | | occupancy of at least 3,500 persons shall provide for (i) the |
| 11 | | recycling of items that are generated at a public meeting or |
| 12 | | public event held at the event facility, including, but not |
| 13 | | limited to, glass, aluminum cans, cardboard, paper, and |
| 14 | | plastic beverage cups or bottles, (ii) the transfer of these |
| 15 | | recyclable materials to a recycling center for processing, and |
| 16 | | (iii) the composting of organic waste, which shall be |
| 17 | | collected separately from the collection of recyclable |
| 18 | | materials. |
| 19 | | (b) In this Section, "event facility" means a structure |
| 20 | | for holding public meetings or public events, including, but |
| 21 | | not limited to, baseball games, football games, hockey games, |
| 22 | | automobile races, or other musical, dramatic, artistic, |
| 23 | | social, or athletic events. "Event facility" includes a |
