| 2 | | WHEREAS, Illinois is the 4th largest pork producing state |
| 3 | | in the United States, contributing an estimated $13.8 billion |
| 4 | | to the State's economy and supporting over 57,000 jobs; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Pork is the most widely eaten protein in the |
| 6 | | world, and consumers have a variety of delicious cuts as |
| 7 | | choices, including bacon; Illinois pig farmers produce over |
| 8 | | six billion slices of bacon per year, and the average American |
| 9 | | eats 17.9 lbs. of bacon of per year; and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, The hardworking pig farmers who raise this |
| 11 | | high-quality product deserve our support; whether its plain or |
| 12 | | apple-wood smoked, whether store-bought or artisan-made, bacon |
| 13 | | is a meat for any meal; and
|
| 14 | | WHEREAS, The phrase "Bacon Never Broke My Heart" goes |
| 15 | | without saying; and
|
| 16 | | WHEREAS, National Bacon Day is celebrated in December, but |
| 17 | | Illinois needs its own day to pay tribute to this decadent, |
| 18 | | rich, and indulgent meat; therefore, be it
