SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, Brandon Johnson, the Mayor-elect of the City of 
3Chicago, will come to the City of Springfield, Illinois, on 
4Wednesday, April 19, 2023; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, The Mayor-elect  will be in the capital city while 
6the One Hundred and Third General Assembly of the State of 
7Illinois is in session; and

  
 
8    WHEREAS, The Mayor-elect  has been asked and has agreed to 
9address a Joint Session of the two Houses; therefore, be it
  
 
10    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL 
11ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, THE HOUSE OF 
12REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING HEREIN, that the two Houses shall 
13invite Chicago Mayor-elect Brandon Johnson to address a Joint 
14Session of this General Assembly; and be it further
  
 
15    RESOLVED, That the two Houses shall convene in a Joint 
16Session on  April 19, 2023, at the call of the President of the 
17Senate and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, in the 
18Chamber of the House of Representatives, for the purpose of 
19hearing Chicago Mayor-elect Brandon Johnson address the 
20General Assembly; and be it further

1    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
2presented to Mayor-elect Johnson, as a formal expression of 
3this invitation and of the respect and esteem in which he is 
4held by the members of the General Assembly.
