| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
| 3 | | to learn of the death of Eldon Ray Arnold, formerly of Peoria, |
| 4 | | who passed away on December 30, 2022; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Eldon Arnold was born to Dorothy (Miller) |
| 6 | | Boostrom and Estill Arnold in Monmouth on July 22, 1944; he |
| 7 | | graduated from Galesburg High School in 1962, where he was a |
| 8 | | decorated high school wrestler and All-State football player |
| 9 | | who also made the All-American football team; he married |
| 10 | | Beverly Jeanne Johnson on November 7, 1964; and
|
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Eldon Arnold began his career at Caterpillar in |
| 12 | | the factory in 1965; over time, he developed skills in |
| 13 | | programming and project management in the office; he was a |
| 14 | | longtime board member of CEFCU; in 1992, he retired from |
| 15 | | Caterpillar and went to work at CEFCU full time, where he |
| 16 | | assumed the role of president and CEO in 1998 before retiring |
| 17 | | in 2006; and
|
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Eldon Arnold served as a member of CUNA Mutual |
| 19 | | Holding Company's Board of Directors for nearly 13 years, |
| 20 | | including serving as board chairman for the final four years |
| 21 | | of his tenure; in 2004, he was appointed to serve a 2-year term |
| 22 | | on the Federal Reserve Board's Thrift Institutional Advisory |

| 1 | | Council under Chairman Alan Greenspan's tenure; and
|
| 2 | | WHEREAS, For his athletic accomplishments, Eldon Arnold |
| 3 | | was inducted into the Galesburg High School Hall of Fame in |
| 4 | | 2009; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Eldon Arnold was known for his love, which was |
| 6 | | loyal, fierce, and unwavering; over the years, he frequented |
| 7 | | the stands of hundreds of sporting events for his children, |
| 8 | | grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, making himself known |
| 9 | | as their biggest fan; he was affectionately known as "Poppi" |
| 10 | | to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and
|
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Eldon Arnold will be remembered for his beautiful |
| 12 | | outlook on life, patient tenacity, and uncompromising grit; |
| 13 | | and
|
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Eldon Arnold was preceded in death by his parents |
| 15 | | and his brother, James Arnold; and
|
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Eldon Arnold is survived by his wife of 58 years, |
| 17 | | Beverly; his sons, Eric (Melanie) Arnold and Bradley (Amy) |
| 18 | | Arnold; his nine grandchildren, with three married; his four |
| 19 | | great-grandchildren; his sisters, Mary Arnold, Jacqueline |
| 20 | | (Darren) Niles, and Christa Kay; his many cousins, nieces, and |
| 21 | | nephews; and extended family; therefore, be it

| 1 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL |
| 2 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
| 3 | | Eldon Ray Arnold and extend our sincere condolences to his |
| 4 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it |
| 5 | | further
|
| 6 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 7 | | presented to the family of Eldon Arnold as an expression of our |
| 8 | | deepest sympathy.
