| 1 | SENATE RESOLUTION

| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
| 3 | to learn of the death of Poletha "Polly" Webster of | ||||||
| 4 | Springfield, who passed away on January 5, 2023; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Poletha Webster was born in Scranton, Arkansas on | ||||||
| 6 | August 27, 1931; she started her formal education at Scranton | ||||||
| 7 | Elementary School in Scranton, Arkansas before obtaining her | ||||||
| 8 | high school diploma through School District 186 in | ||||||
| 9 | Springfield, Illinois; and
| ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, As a young woman, Poletha Webster moved to Kansas | ||||||
| 11 | City, Missouri, where she cashiered at the Parkview Pharmacy, | ||||||
| 12 | served as a waitress at the famous Muehlebach Hotel, and | ||||||
| 13 | worked as a clerk at Fifty Minute Cleaners; after realizing | ||||||
| 14 | she possessed an entrepreneurial spirit and a talent in caring | ||||||
| 15 | for others, she began serving as a longtime foster parent and | ||||||
| 16 | became the CEO of a home daycare, which ran for over 50 years; | ||||||
| 17 | and
| ||||||
| 18 | WHEREAS, Poletha Webster was committed to her faith, and | ||||||
| 19 | she was a longtime member of Prayer Wheel Church of God in | ||||||
| 20 | Christ in Springfield; and
| ||||||
| 21 | WHEREAS, Poletha Webster was known for her excellent | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | southern style cuisine, including fried pies, homemade canned | ||||||
| 2 | goods, soups, and pastries; she also enjoyed gardening and | ||||||
| 3 | playing the tambourine; she will be remembered for the love | ||||||
| 4 | she bestowed upon her family and the children under her care; | ||||||
| 5 | and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Poletha Webster is survived by her children, | ||||||
| 7 | Maurice, Michael, Valerie, Yvonne, Linda (Leonard), and Sam | ||||||
| 8 | Jr.; her sisters, Mary Ellen Ellenberg, Christine Hawkins, and | ||||||
| 9 | Mary Elizabeth Thomas; her 21 grandchildren; her 63 | ||||||
| 10 | great-grandchildren; her 12 great-great-grandchildren; and a | ||||||
| 11 | host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and bonus children; | ||||||
| 12 | therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 13 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL | ||||||
| 14 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
| ||||||
| 15 | Poletha "Polly" Webster and extend our sincere
condolences to | ||||||
| 16 | her family, friends, and all who knew and loved
her; and be it | ||||||
| 17 | further
| ||||||
| 18 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be

| 19 | presented to the family of Poletha Webster as an expression of
