| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
| 3 | | to learn of the death of Robert L. "Bob" Bennett of Annawan, |
| 4 | | who passed away on February 10, 2023; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Bob Bennett was born to Lane and Iva (Olson) |
| 6 | | Bennett in Onida, South Dakota on September 12, 1930; he |
| 7 | | graduated from Brandon High School in Brandon, Minnesota; he |
| 8 | | was drafted into the U.S. Marine Corps and served from 1952 to |
| 9 | | 1954; he married Elizabeth "Betty" Girten in Geneseo, Illinois |
| 10 | | on April 5, 1963; and
|
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Bob Bennett worked for Growmark, retiring as a |
| 12 | | sales manager in 1994; during his time with Growmark, he |
| 13 | | worked at Christian County F.S., Montgomery County F.S., and |
| 14 | | Henry County F.S.; and
|
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Bob Bennett was a member of Ware's Grove Church |
| 16 | | in Butler and VFW Post 7176 in Annawan; he held many offices in |
| 17 | | all of his activities; and
|
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Bob Bennett loved softball, coaching several |
| 19 | | girls' softball teams and playing on a men's softball team |
| 20 | | until the age of 62; and
|
|

| 1 | | WHEREAS, Bob Bennett was preceded in death by his parents; |
| 2 | | his brothers, Lorrell and Norris Bennett; and his sister, |
| 3 | | LaVon Rapp; and

| 4 | | WHEREAS, Bob Bennett is survived by his wife, Betty; his |
| 5 | | children, Kandy Hege, Kristy Ross, Gary Bennett, and Judy |
| 6 | | Nelson; his grandchildren, Kameron, Kellyanne, Austin, |
| 7 | | Jennifer, Amanda, Brittney, Craig, Chris, Curt, and Catherine; |
| 8 | | his seven great-grandchildren; his twin sister, Betty Lou |
| 9 | | Vandegraff; his sister, Mary Lee Marsh; his sister-in-law, |
| 10 | | Linda Bennett; and his many nieces and nephews; therefore, be |
| 11 | | it

| 12 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL |
| 13 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
