| 2 | | WHEREAS, Remanufacturing is a comprehensive and rigorous |
| 3 | | industrial process by which a previously sold, leased, used, |
| 4 | | worn, remanufactured, or non-functional product or part is |
| 5 | | returned to a like-new, same-as-when-new, or |
| 6 | | better-than-when-new condition, from both a quality and |
| 7 | | performance perspective, through a controlled, reproducible, |
| 8 | | and sustainable process; and
|
| 9 | | WHEREAS, A 2012 U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) |
| 10 | | report found that remanufacturers support at least 180,000 |
| 11 | | full-time jobs in the U.S.; further, the ITC report states |
| 12 | | that production of remanufactured goods in the U.S. increased |
| 13 | | by 15% from 2009 to 2011 and exports totaled $11.2 billion |
| 14 | | annually; and
|
| 15 | | WHEREAS, Remanufacturing has been recognized by leading |
| 16 | | universities, research institutions, and manufacturers in the |
| 17 | | United States as good for the environment for its ability to |
| 18 | | divert end-of-life products from landfills; and
|
| 19 | | WHEREAS, By encouraging businesses, state agencies, |
| 20 | | nonprofit organizations, schools, and individuals to celebrate |
| 21 | | Reman Day 2023, we can further promote remanufacturing as |
| 22 | | environmentally friendly and economically smart; and
