SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Jacob R. Gauwitz Jr. of Maquon, who
4passed away on March 17, 2023; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Jacob Gauwitz was born to Jacob R. Sr. and Marle
6(Jouvenaux) Gauwitz in Peoria on May 19, 1947; he was raised
7and educated in Peoria and graduated high school in 1965; he
8served in the U.S. Marines Corps during the Vietnam Conflict;
9he married Renda Patrick in Reno, Nevada on February 5, 1967;
10and
 
11    WHEREAS, Jacob Gauwitz worked as a machinist for
12Caterpillar until his retirement, after which he began working
13as a receptionist for Proctor Place; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Jacob Gauwitz was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed
15hunting and fishing; he loved golfing, and he could often be
16found enjoying a nice glass of Irish whiskey; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Jacob Gauwitz was a loving husband, father,
18grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Jacob Gauwitz was preceded in death by his wife
20of 50 years, Renda, and his parents; and

1    WHEREAS, Jacob Gauwitz is survived by his children, Caren
2Geckler and Scott (Lona) Gauwitz; six grandchildren; six
3great-grandchildren; his brother, Randy (Becky) Gauwitz; and
4his sisters, Cindy Blake and Josephine Gauwitz; therefore, be
5it
 
6    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
7ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
8Jacob R. Gauwitz Jr. and extend our sincere condolences to his
9family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
10further
 
11    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
12presented to the family of Jacob Gauwitz as an expression of
13our deepest sympathy.
