SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Marcus L. Lucas of Springfield, who passed away on April 27, 2023; and

WHEREAS, Marcus Lucas was born in Chicago to Jack and Jessie M. Hannah Lucas on May 5, 1961; he graduated from the Lindblom Math and Science Academy and attended Illinois State University in Bloomington; he proudly served in the U.S. Army; and

WHEREAS, Marcus Lucas retired as a lieutenant with the Illinois State Police; and

WHEREAS, Marcus Lucas was a past president of N.O.B.L.E. Land of Lincoln Chapter, a past president of Porsche Club America Lincoln Trails, a vice president of the Central Illinois Food Bank Board, a chair of the Springfield Police Community Review Commission, a member of the Springfield Multi-Cultural Advisory Council, and a member of the Eta Psi Sigma Alumni Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc.; and

WHEREAS, Marcus Lucas was preceded in death by his father, Jack Lucas, and his stepfather, Rosamond Streety; and

WHEREAS, Marcus Lucas is survived by his wife, Jacqueline Price; his children, Christopher (Lindsey) Evans and Quadis Evans (Rodney Dial); his grandson, Moses Evans; his mother, Jessie Streety; his siblings, William Earl Hannah, Reginald (Joelle) Hannah, Sherin Gibbs, and Willie (Willow) Hannah; his godsisters, Anita Burroughs and Cassandra Wells; his godchildren, Karon McFadden and Brandis Heffner; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Marcus L. Lucas and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Marcus Lucas as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
