| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
| 3 | | to learn of the death of Les Peterson of Palos Park, who passed |
| 4 | | away on January 6, 2023; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Les Peterson was born in Chicago on March 5, |
| 6 | | 1954; and
|
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Les Peterson worked in law enforcement for 50 |
| 8 | | years; in addition to his work as a public servant, he spent 25 |
| 9 | | years as an educator, teaching law enforcement to local |
| 10 | | college students; and
|
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Les Peterson had an amazing sense of humor with |
| 12 | | an infectious laugh and a smile that would light up even the |
| 13 | | biggest of rooms; when he was not building something, fixing |
| 14 | | something, or taking part in one of his many interesting |
| 15 | | hobbies such as beekeeping, he could usually be found towing |
| 16 | | his kids around the lake on inner tubes or driving his beloved |
| 17 | | granddaughter, "Baby Reesie", around the yard on the golf |
| 18 | | cart; he was an avid fan of Bruce Springsteen; and |
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Les Peterson was a "best friend" and "brother" to |
| 20 | | many and lived his life with a servant's heart, always ready to |
| 21 | | help someone when they needed something; and
