SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Paul Donovan Johnson, who passed away on April 17, 2023; and

WHEREAS, Paul Johnson was born to Leathean Williams and Paul Johnson in Chicago on May 24, 1975; as a child, he attended Christ Unity Temple and Paul Lutheran Church, where he was a member; he attended Luther High School South and was a member of various sports teams and clubs; he earned his Master of Science in Computer Software Engineering from the University of Minnesota, Morris; and

WHEREAS, Paul Johnson worked at several corporations before using his skills to serve as a senior software developer at the Hyatt Hotels Corporation, where he worked until his passing; and

WHEREAS, Paul Johnson remained updated on modern technology and donated his time to teaching the younger generation, thus developing future technology specialists; and

WHEREAS, Paul Johnson enjoyed traveling around the world with family and friends, participating in benefits and programs for social causes, completing construction projects at home, spending time at the casino, and raising his two dogs, Jazzy and Chase; and

WHEREAS, Paul Johnson was affectionately known as "Little Paul" by his family and friends; he will be remembered as a treasured friend and confidant; and

WHEREAS, Paul Johnson was preceded in death by his mother; his grandparents, Geneva Thomas, Commodore Thomas, Manual Williams Sr., Patsy Lee Williams, and Serena P. Ledbetter; his uncles, Thomas E. Williams, Robert L. Williams, Charlie J. Thomas, Manual J. Williams Jr., and Walter J. Johnson Jr.; and his aunts, Mamie L. Ward, Connie J. Watkins, Pearlie Rand, Mildred Nichols, and Shirley Brown; and

WHEREAS, Paul Johnson is survived by his father; his aunts, Marian L. Johnson, Eloise Allen, Catherine Williams, Joyce Johnson, Carol (Albert) Allen, Serena Daniels, and Eurydice Ledbetter; his uncle, Robert Thomas; and a host of cousins, family, and friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Paul Donovan Johnson and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Paul Johnson as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
