| 4 | | diagnosed with liver disease across the nation and that liver |
| 5 | | disease results in over 50,000 deaths annually; and

| 6 | | WHEREAS, Liver disease is any condition that damages the |
| 7 | | liver and prevents it from functioning well; and
|
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Liver disease may be the result of different |
| 9 | | causes, such as infection, genetics, or other risk factors; |
| 10 | | these risk factors include heavy alcohol use, obesity, and |
| 11 | | Type 2 diabetes; left untreated, liver disease can lead to |
| 12 | | liver cancer and liver failure; and
|
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Liver disease can be treated by medication, |
| 14 | | surgery, or lifestyle modifications depending on one's |
| 15 | | diagnosis; and
|
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Increasing public awareness and understanding of |
| 17 | | liver disease could lead to early diagnosis that can prevent |
| 18 | | the progression of liver disease to liver cancer or liver |
| 19 | | failure, while educating those of the risk factors can lead to |
| 20 | | lifestyle changes that may lower one's chances of getting |
