SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to 
3congratulate Kenwood Academy High School on its recent Chicago 
4Public League City Championships; and
 
5    WHEREAS, The Kenwood Academy High School baseball team won 
6the 2023 Chicago Public League Championship by defeating  
7Walter Payton College Preparatory High School on May 22, 2023 
8at Guaranteed Rate Field by a score of 2 to 0; and
 
9    WHEREAS, The baseball team  put fourth a total team effort  
10to claim their championship, their first Public League title; 
11and
 
12    WHEREAS, The Kenwood Academy High School track and field 
13team won its first  Chicago Public League indoor city 
14championship on March 18, 2023, taking gold in eight events; 
15and
  
 
16    WHEREAS, The track and field team  recorded a total of 129 
17points at the end of the meet, defeating defending indoor 
18track champion Lane Tech High School; last season, they took 
19second place in the CPL indoor championship, trailing Lane 
20Tech by 21 points; therefore, be it

1    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL 
2ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate 
3Kenwood Academy High School on its recent CPL championships, 
4and we wish them many more successful seasons; and be it

6    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
7presented to the principal of Kenwood Academy High School as a 
8symbol of our respect and esteem.
