| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
| 3 | | to learn of the death of Edward "Ed" Golden of Petersburg, who |
| 4 | | passed away on May 22, 2023; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Ed Golden was born to Louis A. and Minnie Bell |
| 6 | | (Hardin) Golden in Petersburg on August 10, 1926; he was named |
| 7 | | "Prettiest Baby" at the Menard County Fair in 1927; he served |
| 8 | | in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War; he married |
| 9 | | Hazel Boesdorfer in Springfield on October 29, 1960; and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Ed Golden farmed for his entire life; and
|
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Ed Golden was a member of the Menard County Farm |
| 12 | | Bureau, and he served on the National Bank of Petersburg Board |
| 13 | | and the school board for several years; and
|
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Ed Golden was a member of Rock Creek Presbyterian |
| 15 | | Church, where he served in various positions, including as an |
| 16 | | elder; and
|
| 17 | | WHEREAS, Ed Golden was preceded in death by his wife of 62 |
| 18 | | years, Hazel; his parents; one sister, Dorothy Golden; and one |
| 19 | | infant brother; and
