SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Laddie Joe Storckman of Hutsonville,
4who passed away on June 13, 2023; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Laddie Storckman was born in Olney to J.O. and
6Madelyn (Collins) Storckman on December 18, 1952; he was
7raised in Robinson and graduated from Robinson High School in
81970; he married Connie Vandevender on May 31, 1975; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Laddie Storckman joined the U.S. Marine Corps in
101971 and, following initial training at Parris Island in July
11of that year, entered combat training at Camp Lejeune before
12moving on to the Parris Island School of Music, where he
13trained from January to March of 1972; he performed in
14countless ceremonies, events, and parades across the nation,
15including several White House events, the inaugural parade of
16President Nixon, and the opening of Disney World; he traveled
17with the Silent Drill Platoon, and together, they represented
18the U.S. with honor and distinction; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Laddie Storckman was honorably discharged in July
20of 1973 and returned home to study petroleum technology at
21Lincoln Trail College, where he earned an associate degree in
221975; he worked for Marathon in Robinson, Chevron in Rangely,

1Colorado, and Amoco in Evanston, Wyoming; most recently, he
2was an oil and gas well inspector for the State of Illinois;
3and
 
4    WHEREAS, Laddie Storckman was an avid outdoorsman and
5loved hunting, fishing, and gardening; he was also a dedicated
6student of history and had a particular interest in the
7fur-trading days of America and the Pacific Theater of World
8War II; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Laddie Storckman was an active member of Trimble
10Bible Church, where he served as a board member, treasurer,
11and song leader; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Laddie Storckman was a faithful and dependable
13man who was a rock for his family; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Laddie Storckman was preceded in death by his
15parents; his father-in-law, Leroy Vandevender; his
16brothers-in-law, John Vandevender and Robert Takacs; his
17sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Dianne E. and Rick Pollard;
18and many aunts, uncles, and cousins; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Laddie Storckman is survived by his wife of 48
20years, Connie; his daughter, Amy Teska; his son and
21daughter-in-law, Ryan and Sara Storckman; his grandchildren,

1Olivia, Aaron, and Rachel Teska; his sister, Julie Takacs; his
2brother and sister-in-law, Scott and Christine Storckman; his
3mother-in-law, Libby Vandevender; his sisters-in-law and
4brother-in-law, Carolyn Kay and Gary Smith and Betty
5Vandevender; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins; therefore,
6be it
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
8ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
9Laddie Joe Storckman and extend our sincere condolences to his
10family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
11further
 
12    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of Laddie Storckman as an expression
14of our deepest sympathy.
