2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
3 | to learn of the death of Laddie Joe Storckman of Hutsonville, | ||||||
4 | who passed away on June 13, 2023; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Laddie Storckman was born in Olney to J.O. and | ||||||
6 | Madelyn (Collins) Storckman on December 18, 1952; he was | ||||||
7 | raised in Robinson and graduated from Robinson High School in | ||||||
8 | 1970; he married Connie Vandevender on May 31, 1975; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Laddie Storckman joined the U.S. Marine Corps in | ||||||
10 | 1971 and, following initial training at Parris Island in July | ||||||
11 | of that year, entered combat training at Camp Lejeune before | ||||||
12 | moving on to the Parris Island School of Music, where he | ||||||
13 | trained from January to March of 1972; he performed in | ||||||
14 | countless ceremonies, events, and parades across the nation, | ||||||
15 | including several White House events, the inaugural parade of | ||||||
16 | President Nixon, and the opening of Disney World; he traveled | ||||||
17 | with the Silent Drill Platoon, and together, they represented | ||||||
18 | the U.S. with honor and distinction; and
| ||||||
19 | WHEREAS, Laddie Storckman was honorably discharged in July | ||||||
20 | of 1973 and returned home to study petroleum technology at | ||||||
21 | Lincoln Trail College, where he earned an associate degree in | ||||||
22 | 1975; he worked for Marathon in Robinson, Chevron in Rangely, |

1 | Colorado, and Amoco in Evanston, Wyoming; most recently, he | ||||||
2 | was an oil and gas well inspector for the State of Illinois; | ||||||
3 | and | ||||||
4 | WHEREAS, Laddie Storckman was an avid outdoorsman and | ||||||
5 | loved hunting, fishing, and gardening; he was also a dedicated | ||||||
6 | student of history and had a particular interest in the | ||||||
7 | fur-trading days of America and the Pacific Theater of World | ||||||
8 | War II; and | ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Laddie Storckman was an active member of Trimble | ||||||
10 | Bible Church, where he served as a board member, treasurer, | ||||||
11 | and song leader; and | ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Laddie Storckman was a faithful and dependable | ||||||
13 | man who was a rock for his family; and
| ||||||
14 | WHEREAS, Laddie Storckman was preceded in death by his | ||||||
15 | parents; his father-in-law, Leroy Vandevender; his | ||||||
16 | brothers-in-law, John Vandevender and Robert Takacs; his | ||||||
17 | sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Dianne E. and Rick Pollard; | ||||||
18 | and many aunts, uncles, and cousins; and
| ||||||
19 | WHEREAS, Laddie Storckman is survived by his wife of 48 | ||||||
20 | years, Connie; his daughter, Amy Teska; his son and | ||||||
21 | daughter-in-law, Ryan and Sara Storckman; his grandchildren, |

1 | Olivia, Aaron, and Rachel Teska; his sister, Julie Takacs; his | ||||||
2 | brother and sister-in-law, Scott and Christine Storckman; his | ||||||
3 | mother-in-law, Libby Vandevender; his sisters-in-law and | ||||||
4 | brother-in-law, Carolyn Kay and Gary Smith and Betty | ||||||
5 | Vandevender; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins; therefore, | ||||||
6 | be it

7 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL | ||||||
8 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
9 | Laddie Joe Storckman and extend our sincere condolences to his | ||||||
10 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
11 | further

12 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
13 | presented to the family of Laddie Storckman as an expression | ||||||
14 | of our deepest sympathy.
