| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
| 3 | | to learn of the death of Roy T. Schmidt of Lewistown, who |
| 4 | | passed away on June 27, 2023; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Roy Schmidt was born to Ray F. and Mary (Hickman) |
| 6 | | Schmidt in Canton on June 19, 1947; he married Linda Oatman at |
| 7 | | Locust Lane United Methodist Church in rural Canton on January |
| 8 | | 24, 1969; he served as a helicopter gunner in the U.S. Army |
| 9 | | during the Vietnam War; and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Roy Schmidt retired from Caterpillar, Inc. after |
| 11 | | 45 years; he previously served as a part-time police officer |
| 12 | | for the City of Lewistown; and
|
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Roy Schmidt served as a master instructor for the |
| 14 | | Illinois Department of Natural Resources' Hunter Safety |
| 15 | | Program for 40 years; and
|
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Roy Schmidt was a member of the Lewistown United |
| 17 | | Methodist Church, UAW Local 974, Lewistown American Legion |
| 18 | | Bishop Post 1, and Pheasants Forever; and
|
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Roy Schmidt enjoyed hunting; he also enjoyed |
| 20 | | mowing, and he volunteered to mow at the City Kids Camp in |
