SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Stuart G. McKneight of Pekin, who passed away on September 4, 2023; and

WHEREAS, Stuart McKneight was born to Gibson and Esther (Olson) McKneight in Minneapolis, Minnesota on August 24, 1933; he served in the U.S. Army; he earned his bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Minnesota in 1956; he married Ulla Lindenfelser in East Peoria on June 22, 1958, and she preceded him in death on August 13, 2003; he later married Mary Jean Nauman in Kickapoo on October 1, 2005; and

WHEREAS, Stuart McKneight worked as a service engineer and manager with Caterpillar Inc. for over 40 years before retiring in 1997; and

WHEREAS, Stuart McKneight was a member of the East Peoria First United Methodist Church for over 66 years, where he volunteered as a Sunday school teacher, served as chairman of the Administration Board and the Board of Trustees, and participated in various other committees and activities; he was also a past president of the Peoria Knife and Fork Club; and

WHEREAS, Stuart McKneight was preceded in death by his parents; and

WHEREAS, Stuart McKneight is survived by his wife; his children, Brian (Stacy) McKneight, Laura (Steve) Hart, and Paul (Laura) McKneight; his grandchildren, Aaron (Alma) McKneight, Emily (Eric) Esser, Morgan (Nick) Bonifazi, and Philip McKneight; and his great-grandchildren, Jayson McKneight, Logan McKneight, William Esser, and Thomas Esser; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Stuart G. McKneight and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Stuart McKneight as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
