SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of John H. Wochner of East Moline, who passed away on September 16, 2023; and

WHEREAS, John Wochner was born in Davenport, Iowa to James and Agnes Stohlmeyer Wochner on November 19, 1944; he served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War; he married Jacqueline "Jackie" Long in Milan on July 17, 1965; and

WHEREAS, John Wochner was employed at Farmall and then with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for 45 years; he retired in 2006; and

WHEREAS, John Wochner was an avid bowler, who was inducted into the Hall of Fame and served as a past president of the East Moline Bowling Association (United States Bowling Congress); he enjoyed NASCAR and QC Mallards/QC Storm Hockey; in earlier years, he was a member of the former Moline Moose Lodge; he was a member of United Auto Workers Local 1309; and

WHEREAS, John Wochner was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, JoAnn Diehl; and

WHEREAS, John Wochner is survived by his wife, Jackie; his sons, Shane and Shawn (Christie) Wochner; his granddaughter, Emma Wochner; his niece, Ann Horton; and his special friends, Charlie and Diane Roth and Jim and Patti Hoogerwerf; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of John H. Wochner and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of John Wochner as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
