| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened |
| 3 | | to learn of the death of James Edward "Jim" Ketchum, formerly |
| 4 | | of Auburn, who passed away on September 26, 2023; and |
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Jim Ketchum was born in Taylorville to Roy and |
| 6 | | Maude (Campbell) Ketchum on July 18, 1935; he attended |
| 7 | | Taylorville High School and graduated from Divernon High |
| 8 | | School in 1953; he married Wanda Lee Seiders at Divernon |
| 9 | | Baptist Church on May 29, 1955, and they settled in Auburn, |
| 10 | | where they lived for 67 years; and |
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Jim Ketchum worked as a lineman for the Rural |
| 12 | | Electric Convenience Co-Operative immediately after high |
| 13 | | school, where he was employed for 45 years; during that time, |
| 14 | | he also served two years in the U.S. Army, stationed in the |
| 15 | | territory of Hawaii; and |
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Jim Ketchum and Wanda owned and operated the |
| 17 | | Edgewood Shooting Park, employing dozens of teens over the |
| 18 | | years; he was also a part-time Shelter insurance agent; and |
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Jim Ketchum was a Master Mason and member of Ark & |
| 20 | | Anchor Lodge #354 since 1967; he became a noble in the Ansar |
| 21 | | Shriners in 1979, serving on the Director's Staff and was a |

| 1 | | member of the Court 20 Royal Order of Jesters; he was an |
| 2 | | accomplished marksman and a state and national trapshooting |
| 3 | | champion; he also served as the assistant coach for an |
| 4 | | award-winning youth team from the Scholastic Clay Target |
| 5 | | Program; he was a hot rod enthusiast and could be seen tooling |
| 6 | | around town in his red 1939 Chevy Coupe or his 1978 Corvette |
| 7 | | Stingray; and |
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Jim Ketchum was preceded in death by his parents; |
| 9 | | his wife, Wanda; his infant sister, Anna Belle; and his |
| 10 | | brother, Roy Eugene "Gene" Jr.; and |
| 11 | | WHEREAS, Jim Ketchum is survived by his daughters, Becky |
| 12 | | (Scott) Wiley, Dee Dee (Kevin) Walsh, and twins, Kris (Andy) |
| 13 | | Nothnagel and Kelly (David) Brown; his brother, Bob (Joyce) |
| 14 | | Ketchum; his half-brother, Sammy (Janice) Barger; his |
| 15 | | stepsister, Sharron (Gardner) Nickel; his brother-in-law, Jim |
| 16 | | (Maris) Seiders; his sisters-in-law, Dorothy (Van Giesen) |
| 17 | | Seiders and Rita (Janesse) Seiders; his cousin, Irene |
| 18 | | (Campbell) Rickman; his granddaughters, Rachel Carlson and |
| 19 | | Melanie Brown; his grandsons, Kevin and Christopher Wiley; his |
| 20 | | great-granddaughters, Ellia and twins, Noa and Rowyn Wiley; |
| 21 | | and many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it |
| 22 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL |
