SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Jack Carl Parish, who passed away on
4October 20, 2023; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Jack Parish was born to Field and Annie Bell
6Parish in Lake Village, Arkansas on January 28, 1935; he
7attended Coleman High School in Greenville, Mississippi, where
8he laid the foundation for a life devoted to the art of
9bricklaying; he married Ruth M. Clark on June 9, 1957, and they
10had seven children together; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Jack Parish joined the esteemed Local 56 of the
12International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers,
13leaving an indelible mark on countless projects and hearts; he
14was deeply dedicated to the craft, becoming a mentor and
15imparting his knowledge to a new generation of craftsmen; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Jack Parish was deeply committed to his faith and
17made sure his family's spiritual journey was grounded in the
18sanctuary of their church; beyond his work and faith, he
19reveled in the simple joys of life, including going on camping
20trips, traveling on the open road, and spending time with his
21grandchildren; and

1    WHEREAS, Jack Parish was a pillar of strength and love who
2embraced his roles as a husband, father, and provider with
3grace and unwavering commitment; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Jack Parish was the father of Jack C. (Lorraine)
5Parish Jr., Kenneth C. (Katie) Parish, Katherine D. (Leroy)
6Parish Rush, the late Cheneta (Gus Oldham Sr.) Parish-Oldham,
7Aundra (Carolyn) Parish, Reginald A. (Barb) Parish, and
8Mondell R. (Billy) Parish; the grandfather of 23; the
9great-grandfather of 37; the brother of the late Shirley
10(Milton) Ganison, the late Rubye (Robert) Barber, the late
11Jean (Leroy) Singleton, the late Marva (Harold) Robinson, the
12late Debra (Vernon) Gause, the late Phield (Hester) Parish,
13and the late Montrose (Judy) Parish; the steadfast companion
14of Jimmy and Ester Viverette and Dorothy Bentley Myles; and
15the uncle and cousin of many; therefore, be it
 
16    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
17ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
18Jack Carl Parish and extend our sincere condolences to his
19family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
20further
 
21    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
22presented to the family of Jack Parish as an expression of our
23deepest sympathy.
